Ceylinco Life goes Green in Panadura

Opens purpose-built new office with solar power, rainwater harvesting, sewage water recycling and energy efficient cooling and lighting

Ceylinco Life has reiterated its commitment to greener operations with the opening of the company’s new, purpose-built environment-friendly office in the heart of Panadura.

The three-storey, 7,713 square foot company-owned building at No 401, Galle Road, Panadura is powered by solar panels, is equipped with energy-efficient air-conditioning and lighting systems, has rainwater harvesting facilities and uses recycled sewage water for the sustenance of its garden, significantly reducing consumption of resources and minimising its carbon footprint.

The building has a fully-equipped conference hall and ample parking for customers. Conforming strictly to its commitment to be eco-friendly, the construction was completed without sacrificing the trees at the site, the company said.

The new building was formally declared open by Ceylinco Life Managing Director Mr R. Renganathan on Friday, 7th October, one year after he laid its foundation stone. It was designed and built to a new eco-friendly model adopted by the life insurance leader as part of its commitment to the environment.

Similar branch buildings designed to use renewable energy and water have been built by Ceylinco Life on company-owned land at Wennappuwa, Trincolmalee and Bandarawela, while construction of another eco-friendly branch is nearing completion at Horana. The company already owns the buildings housing its offices in Anuradhapura, Jaffna, Batticaloa, Kandy, Kalutara, Kurunegala, Gampaha, Galle, Matara, Tissamaharama, Negombo, Ratnapura, Kotahena and Mount Lavinia, and some of them have been converted to solar energy.

Additionally, Ceylinco Life has broken new ground in the sphere of eco-friendly operations with the installation of the biggest solar electricity system in the city of Colombo to date at its head office building in Colombo 5, with an investment of Rs 13.7 million to generate 63.18kW.
